FREESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

Monterey Salsa Freestyle Contest is back in ACTION!

This contest is designed for one thing...to find the best dancers in the 831.

Period.

Having seen and judged tons of other contests, we have created a set of rules guaranteed to provide maximum excitement and to find out who the best DANCERS really are. This contest is not only going to be more FAIR than traditional contests, it's going to be way more fun to watch. So how does it work? Let's find out...

YOU PICK YOUR PARTNER
This is a partner-based competition, so you will need a dance partner to participate. If you have one, cool. If not, let us know and we'll try to help you find one.

WE PICK THE MUSIC
We want to find the best dancers, not the best choreographers. And, real dancers can rip to ANY music. So, you will not know in advance what your song will be. On the day of the contest, we will select the music that you will dance to. You will just have to be ready to rip to whatever comes on. This will filter out the REAL Salseros from the imposters.

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETS
If you have 10 couples on the floor all dancing at once, who can watch them all? And if you have the couples perform one at a time, it's hard to remember what they did, or who was better than whom. So, instead of the traditional format, we will be setting up brackets like a real tournament. In each round, one couple will face off against another couple. The tournament will be single elimination, and couples will compete head on until a winner is crowned!!

Qualifying Round 3: Friday July 23rd, 2010
Qualifying Round 4: Friday July 30th, 2010
FINALS: Friday August 6th , 2010

TWO PAIRS ENTER, ONE PAIR LEAVES

That's right, we gettin' Thunderdome on this!!! When it's time to compete, two couples will step onto the dance floor. Neither couple will know what the song will be.

When the music starts, both couples will begin dancing. When the song ends, the judges and the audience will decide on a winner. One couple will advance further into the tournament & the other will be eliminated.

The advancing couples will continue to compete until only one remains.

$500 CASH PRIZE!
WINNER TAKE ALL!
The winning couple will receive $500 cash and the title of:
"Monterey Salsa Freestyle Champion!!"

With a beginners Salsa Lesson at 9:15pm and live bands once a month or more!!

Our dear friend ENA is representing a local Soccer Team called "F.C. Cabo Hermoso" and running for Queen of the 25th Annual Christmas Soccer Tournament

The Candidate that raises the most money will be crowned Queen of the Tournament, at "EL GRAN BAILE" at 8pm on December 25th at El Palomar Restaurant. And all the money raised will go towards local community events.

"Club Hermoso", as we call it, is actually DJ Willi's Salvadorian Restaurant in Seaside.

Two Winners Selected!!!

Last night at the opening round of the Monterey Salsa Freestyle Championships, two winners were chosen from a field of eight.

The first half of the contest saw Fernando and Terry advancing to the championships bracket, while Anthony and Ariel won the second half, securing their spot.

The energy was incredible! We have some photos and (hopefully) video of the contest that we will try to get up ASAP. Stay tuned!
